Synopsis and Plot Summary

A story set in the 1930s that spans across three generations chronicles the lives of a Peranakan Chinese family in Malacca and a woman who remains strong despite many adversities.

Because of her low status and the fact that her mother is a second wife, Yue Niang (Shane Yan) has led a life full of hardships and mistreatment. With this, she has developed a strong personality, never stopping as she pursues her goal of turning her life around and eventually becomes a successful businesswoman.

It is a joint production between China and Singapore.
Singaporean directors Kuang Yong Wong and Meng Yang Chia were especially invited to work on the production.
Filming took place in Malaysia, Singapore, Hainan, etc.
The original is regarded as one of the greatest series on Singapore's free-to-air MediaCorp TV Channel 8.
Dai Xiangyu and Xiang Yun who starred in the original return for the remake.
