Synopsis and Plot Summary
The lowly modern-day son-in-law who married into a powerful family becomes a small public servant in ancient times. Who would've thought that time and space has changed yet he becomes a son-in-law just the same for not one but two families!
Li You (Guan Yunpeng) has come to Xujiang County, Daning Dynasty, taking over his father's position as a small public servant. After being looked down upon, an indignant Li You dedicates a poem to songstress Li Huan (Shi Yufei) who has faced the same humiliation. Who would've thought that it would lead to fame winning the appreciation of the county magistrate (Li Xizi).
At this time, both military officer Liu Xunjian (Elvis Tsui) and wealthy businessman Guan Yuanwai (Yan Feng) want Li You as their son-in-law. Li You cleverly sets a three-year agreement though he continues to be caught between the two ladies - Liu Xinyu (Yu Menghan) and Guan Xiuxiu (Song Xiaoyingzi). For the sake of freedom, Li You works hard to progress in life, rising to fame in the literary world as the sage of Jiangnan poetry and earning riches in the business world. The more dazzling he becomes, the more Guan and Liu families refuse to let him go as their son-in-law. How will this end?
