Synopsis and Plot Summary

It tells the touching story of Huang Wenxiu who gave up the opportunity to work after graduate school and chose to fight on the front lines of poverty alleviation.

Huang Wenxiu (Yang Rong) who graduated from Beijing Normal University with a master's degree left the city to return to her hometown where she worked in the municipal party committee. In March 2018, she chose to serve as the first secretary of Baini, one of the poorest mountain villages in Guangxi. During the day, she would visit poor households to analyze the causes of poverty. At night, she would discuss countermeasures with the "village committees" to formulate and execute a work plan.

Through Huang Wenxiu's unremitting efforts, 88 poor households were lifted out of poverty in more than a year. Given what she has started, many others continue to take over Huang Wenxiu's baton to realize her vision for Baini Village.
