Synopsis and Plot Summary

Set in turbulent times near the end of the Eastern Han, the Han imperial rule has fallen into shambles. Dong Zhuo enters the capital seeking to seize power and dominate the court. Extraordinary individuals like Lü Bu, Cao Cao, Guan Yu, Liu Bei and Zhang Fei rise one after the other to ignite a battle between heroes from all walks of life.

Fun Facts

The film uses the earlier stories from the Three Kingdoms. At the time, historical figures like Cao Cao was only 30 years old and Liu Bei wasn't 30 yet. The director casted actors to reflect the younger characters.
HMV Digital China executive chairman Stephen Shiu Jr. revealed that it was always his dream to film something based on the Three Kingdoms. He wanted to come up with something new so he decided to adapt the Dynasty Warrior game franchise into a movie. It took him three years to secure the rights to make the movie.
Filming began on July 11, 2017 in Beijing and continued in New Zealand on November 9, 2017.
Director Roy Chow and screenwriter Christine To who both worked on the movie are husband and wife.
On November 26, 2017, Roy Chow revealed that 8 months of pre-production and 5 months of principal photography was finally completed. Post-production was expected to take one year for a planned release in 2019.
It is the second time for Guli Nazha to play Diaochan which is one of the Four Beauties of ancient China after playing the same character in God of War, Zhao Yun.
