Synopsis and Plot Summary

Being a forensic examiner is a thankless and gruesome job, yet they are the only ones privy to the last words of the deceased. Ming Chuan is a man who will leave no stone unturned in his quest to uncover the truth.

Ming Chuan (Nie Yuan) is a forensic examiner who has earned a reputation in Penghai City for having solved countless cases as the 'listener of the dead'. Everything about him is a mystery as he has a past that nobody knows of. A series of murder cases revolving around the killer doctor raises detective Luo Bixin's (Song Yi) suspicions about Ming Chuan's real identity. As Ming Chuan and Luo Bixin crack one case after the other, they start to become close. However, a photo of Ming Chuan appears at a crime scene which leaves Luo Bixin with no choice but to start investigating him.

Fun Facts

Song Yi missed the spring festival concert due to filming for the drama. Nie Yuan went to set early on to learn more about the profession. He also interacted with real medical examiners to research the role.
Author Zhu Mingchuan also uses Ming Chuan as the name of the main protagonist.
