Synopsis and Plot Summary

A student who gets into the school of her dreams finds that things are not so easy when she butts heads with the most popular students at school.

Chu Yuxin (Zheng Shuang) is a hardworking student and she dreams of entering the most prestigious school in the country. Determined to send her niece to a school for the wealthy, her uncle borrows money to pay for her tuition. Murong Yunhai (Zhang Han), Duanmu Le (Yu Haoming), Shangguan Ruiqian (Zhu Zixiao) and Ye Shuo (Wei Chen), collectively known as F4, are hailed as school royalty. They come from four of the richest and most powerful families and they are worshipped by the entire student body. Unhappy with their parents arrangements, the F4 cause trouble on purpose and try everything at their disposal to get themselves expelled. Yuxun crosses paths with them after she saves a classmate from being bullied which in turn makes her the new target. However, the quarrelsome relationship between Chu Yuxin and Yunhai makes a one eighty when Yunhai comes to admire the only girl who dares to oppose him.

Fun Facts

Filming took place in Zhangzhou and Xiamen.
It is being dubbed as the unofficial adaptation based on the Japanese manga Hana Yori Dango. According to the producer, the series is only inspired by the manga and not based off it.
The drama was criticized for excessive product placements.
It stars a young cast of mainly newcomers who had no prior filming experience. Although the cast was quite green, they came off as fresh and relatable to its young audience who were mainly born in 80's and 90's.
Zhu Zixiao was known for having the most bloopers, but he said that the director was very kind and did not scold him.
Zheng Shuang and Zhang Han had to film a kissing scene only a few days after they first met. Zheng Shuang said that she was so nervous that she was like a wooden statue. They had to do over 20 retakes.
In the drama, Zhang Han often had to break glasses and toss tables due to the main character's violent personality. He said that after filming was completed, his personality changed a bit and he became a lot more temperamental.
Zheng Shuang, Zhang Han and Zhu Zixiao became famous overnight. Yu Haoming and Wei Chen gained second fame because of the drama.
It ranked consistently in first nationwide and started an era of idol dramas in China.
It broke 3% in ratings and the cast guesting on other shows would also yielded high ratings.
