Synopsis and Plot Summary
In the land of Odin, there exists Dukes and their Disciple that are gifted with special powers and a mandate to protect, yet a dangerous power struggle takes place within the confines of a glorious empire.
Odin is separated into four nations - Water, Wind, Fire and Earth. Each is home to practitioners skilled in the use of soul power. The seven most powerful are known throughout the lands as Dukes. Qi Ling (Cheney Chen) is an ordinary boy from the Water Country. Through a series of events, he is taken as a disciple by the 7th Duke Yin Chen (Kris Wu) and embarks on a search for his soul weapon. He encounters Tianshu You Hua (Lin Yun) and Guishan Lian Quan (Fan Bingbing) and gets pulled into a world beyond his imagination. As Yin Chen decides to go after Qi Ling to make sure that he is safe, he inadvertently uncovers a secret and learns that the 1st Duke may still be alive. You Min (William Chan) and Te Lei Ya (Amber Kuo) catch wind of the happenings and join in on the hunt as a complicated battle erupts.
Fun Facts
- It is produced and distributed by LEVP.
- Filming took place in 2015.
- Amber Kuo's character as the female duke is a very seductive character. The actress had to wear heels throughout filming.
- Kris Wu accidentally injured his head near the end of filming but decided to carry on as he didn't want to delay filming.
- Lin Yun who had to do a large amount of sword fighting for the big forest scene underwent training with an wushu teacher. As she would be too focused on the task at hand, she would miss the bigger picture and accidentally injure the people around her.
- It is the first Chinese film to make a completely CGI animated film at a large scale.
- It is a high-profile movie which features big stars in the Chinese entertainment industry, yet the movie flopped in the box office and garnered negative reviews.
