Synopsis and Plot Summary

A story about a princess of a fallen nation who through a series of events assumes the identity of Li Wei Yang to begin her long road to avenge her family and country.

During the North and South Dynasty, a young girl named Xin Er (Tiffany Tang) is a member of the royal family. She is carefree, kind and adored by all. However, a betrayal causes the demise of her country and the deaths of everyone in her family and she becomes an orphan overnight. She is saved by Li Wei Yang, the illegitimate daughter of a powerful official who ends up dying instead. Left with no choice, Xin Er takes over Wei Yang's identity to trudge a treacherous path that is fraught with danger. She returns to the Li Manor and despite the great adversities given her low social standing in the household, she outwits her enemies to become a force to be reckoned with.

It is produced and distributed by Croton Media.
Filming took place from December 2015 to March 2016 in Hengdian World Studios.
It was one of the bigger IP (intellectual property) productions for the year due to the novel's wide readership and popular appeal. Anticipation grew after a poster of Tiffany Tang as Li Wei Yang was revealed
The rights to air the drama online have already been purchased by Tencent and other streaming websites early on.
It did well in television ratings, achieving CSM52 ratings as high as 2.494% on the day of its finale and averaging 1.483% throughout its run.
It is Tiffany Tang and Luo Jin's fourth collaboration after A Beauty in Troubled Times and Agent X in 2012 and Diamond Lover in 2015.
On December 6, 2016, Luo Jin greeted Tiffany Tang on her birthday via weibo and said, "My shoulders are forever yours to lean on! My dearest love, happy birthday. @Tang Yan," thus revealing that they were indeed dating.
They are slated to play a couple one more time in The Way We Were.
