Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils 2013

Based on the classic wuxia novel by Jin Yong, it follows three main protagonists - Qiao Feng is the leader of the Beggar Clan who defends the Han people from the Qi Dan. Duan Yu is a prince of Da Li who despises fighting and violence. Xu Zhu is a monk who gains immense martial arts powers that he does not want. The three become sworn brothers and this is their story.

During the Song Dynasty, Liao and Xia are two regions threatening to disturb the peace in Song. As the largest and most powerful clan, the Beggar Clan led by Qiao Feng (Wallace Chung) constantly risk their lives to defend the country. However, Kang Min (Viann Zhang) accuses Qiao Feng of being of Qitan descent which turns everyone against him. It also forces Qiao Feng to start on a road to finding the truth. Along the way, he meets and becomes brothers with Duan Yu and Xu Zhu. Duan Yu (Kim Ki Bum) is the Prince of Da Li. He runs away from home in order to get out of learning martial arts due to his advocacy for peace. Nevertheless, his sense of righteousness gets him in trouble almost immediately, and he meets many muses in his life like Mu Wan Qing (Zhao Yuan Yuan), Zhong Ling (Mao Xiaotong) and finally, Wang Yu Yan (Zhang Meng), a woman that he falls head over heels in love with. Xu Zhu is a monk who leads a humble life. He is obedient and abides by the rules of his faith. However, fate has other things in mind for him as he suddenly becomes the leader of Sect that he does not want to leave. He also gets pulled into a situation where he meets the woman of his dreams.

• It is a daily primetime drama that premiered December 22, 2013 on the Golden Eagle segment on Hunan TV.
• It is directed by Lai Shui Qing, Ma Yu Cheng, etc.
• There was some noise over the casting of Korean actor Kim Ki Bum in such an iconic role in a wuxia classic no less, so some were hoping that they would have casted actors of Chinese ethnicity.
