Synopsis and Plot Summary
In ancient times, humans, gods, and demons lived together. The three kingdoms of Shennong, Xuanyuan, and Gaoxin also stood together. Jiu Yao (Xiao Yao) has gone through hundreds of years of hardships wandering the great wilderness. She loses not only her identity as a royal but also her appearance and eventually disguises herself as a male doctor to live uninhibitedly healing others.
The Yellow Emperor's daughter Xuanyuan Wangji left her daughter Xiao Yao (Yang Zi) under the care of the Queen Mother of Yushan. Xiao Yao's mother who died in battle was never able to come back for her. Meanwhile, Xiao Yao harbors resentment towards her father and runs away from home. Having no one else to depend on but her herself, she disguises herself as a male doctor named Wen Xiao Liu.
Xiaoyao's cousin Qiang Xuan (Zhang Wanyi), also known as Prince Xuanyuan, has had to endure living under subjugation yet he also travels far and wide just to find Xiao Yao. Wen Xiaoliu accidentally rescues Tu Shanjing (Deng Wei), the young master of Qingqiu, from danger. Meanwhile, the nine-headed demon Xiang Liu (Tan Jianci) accidentally discovers that Xiao Yao can help heal his wounds. He repeatedly goes after her and they eventually become confidantes.
