Synopsis and Plot Summary

Liang Er is a little girl whose family was executed for committing treason against the king. On the run, she meets a teenage Emperor Kangxi without knowing his real identity. The two forge an unlikely friendship but get separated along the way.

Liang Er finds refuge with her childhood friend Nalan RongRuo but loses her memory due to an attempt at her life. In order to cover up the past, she is given a new identity as Wei LinLang and grows up as a palace maid.

It was shot in Hengdian World Studios.
Filming lasted three months from April 13, 2015 to July 22, 2015.
It is Zheng Shuang's first Qing Dynasty drama.
Hawick Lau was initially hesitant about shaving his head but chose to take the role because he really likes the character of Kangxi.
It is Hawick Lau and Zheng Shuang's second collaboration with Director Ng Gam-Yuen after The Cage of Love. Both dramas are produced by the same company.
Bobo Ng who has been nominated several times for the Golden Rooster and Golden Horse Awards designed more than 20 costume sets for each of the main cast that took nearly half a year to prepare.
