Synopsis and Plot Summary
A daughter in her early twenties was so suffocated by her mother's overwhelming love and attention that she felt the need to leave. This is a story of a mother who is always providing for her family and the events that transpired as she was about to retire.
All her life, Li Xiaomei (Zhang Jingyi) has wanted to break free from her mother Ji Peizhen's (Xu Fan) control. Li Xiaomei came to Beijing alone but failed to make anything out of herself. She has an unsatisfactory job and a relationship that has no future. She has no dreams and no goals. Compared to her optimistic mother, Li Xiaomei is the perfect example of a "dejected youth." When a sudden visit from Ji Peizhen disrupts Li Xiaomei's routine, she discovers that everything about her mother does not seem to be as simple as what's seen on the surface...
