Jing Boran and Wu Lei were initially rumored as the leads. However, it was later rumored that Tencent has blacklisted Wu Lei due to issues over who should be top-billed.
Novel author Da Feng Gua Guo said that she is against a certain actor's casting as Zhang Ping because of a drama he starred in. Netizens inferred that she is referring to Untouchable Lover starring Song Weilong due to allegations that the drama plagiarized her work.
The boot ceremony was held on August 29, 2020.
