Synopsis and Plot Summary
Set against the backdrop of the time before the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949 is a story that follows two airlines that have staged a successful uprising for the sake of their ancestral land.
During the spring of 1949, the political clout of the Kuomintang has weakened substantially in China. Hua Hang and Yuan Hang are two airline companies that have transferred operations to Hong Kong. Both compete in a market that allows only the fittest to survive. On one end, they face the rife corruption within the Kuomintang government. On the other end, they are targeted by Western investors looking to swallow their companies whole.
Thousands of airline employees who miss their home hope to become a part of the establishment of the new China. Represented by Nie Yunkai (Ling Xiaosu), Shen Xiyan (Liu Yihan) and other members of the Communist underground are people who rely on their passion and conviction to change the tide for the two airlines.
