Synopsis and Plot Summary
In the year 1914, a ship was attacked while sailing across the far seas. Accused of colluding with the pirates, second officer Bai Zhusheng overcomes many difficulties to clear his name.
Becoming a prime suspect due to his return as the sole survivor after an attack on their ship, Bai Zhusheng's (Li Zefeng) life falls apart. His fiancee leaves him and he is sentenced to serve time in prison. While in jail, he meets a gang of chivalrous thieves who teach him many skills. After his release, Bai Zhusheng is knighted after saving the passengers of a British merchant ship in Hong Kong. He starts on a road to vengeance under the name Burong Bai and returns to Shanghai many years later to begin his plan.
