Synopsis and Plot Summary

It tells a story of young people striving to overcome life's struggles. Two brothers from the rural village of Jiang Men make different choices. The older brother heads to Macau to see his uncle while the younger brother pursues a college degree.

Liu Huasheng (Jin Dong) and his younger brother Liu Huajie (Chen Yi) were both accepted into college. Happy beyond words, their mother tries to come up with the money to cover their tuition fees. A man named Uncle Li (Yin Mingming) suddenly arrives from Macau to tell their mother that her younger brother is sick with cancer and wants to see his family before he dies. He also has an inheritance that he would like his family to have.

After discussing with her son Huasheng, it was decided that Huasheng would go to Macau to see his uncle while Huajie goes to school as planned. After arriving in Macau, Huasheng discovers that his uncle has already passed away. Not only was there no inheritance, but he left behind a large sum of debt for Huasheng to shoulder. Huasheng is left with no choice but to stay in Macau and carve out a new life for himself.
