Synopsis and Plot Summary

With a theme surrounding "Forty years of China and the Winter Olympics," the story follows a family of three generations and their course of preparation for the Winter Olympics. Yan Yang aspires to be a short track speed skating yet his father has a different opinion.

In 1980, Yan Zhenhua (Chen Ruoxuan) who is the son of a teacher at the countryside and student Tang Jian (Hei Ze) are selected to join a key sports school in Harbin. Practically growing up on ice, the two hopeful youths fought hard through and through. Tang Jian's speed skating dream is extinguished due to an accident. Yan Zhenhua becomes figure skating partners and lovers with city girl Li Binghe (Peng Xiaoran), yet they ultimately part ways.

In 2019, China is preparing for the 2022 Winter Olympics. Yan Zhenhua's son Yan Yang (Ou Hao) is selected to join the national Olympic training camp for short track speed skating. It is there that he becomes acquainted with outstanding athletes like Tang Han (Zhang Junming) and Jin Ying (Liang Jie) as well as champion coach Chen Jin (Jiang Xin).

Yan Yang gradually progresses from being a sparring partner for the female athletes to a full-fledged member of the team. After gaining a profound understanding of sportsmanship and learning his father's story, Yan Yang becomes more certain about his own path. The previous generation's Winter Olympic journey may be full of regrets, but the new generation takes the torch to continue the fight.

Fun Facts

It is part of broadcast regulator NRTA's key projects for Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
It will first premiere on three provincial channels Beijing TV, Zhejiang TV, Jiangsu TV. It will also be broadcast on Jilin TV, Hebei TV, Heilongjiang TV. State-run CCTV-8 will air the show in support beginning Feb 12 22:00.
It is split into two parts. Part 2 "Winter Olympic Dream" was shot from August to October 2021 in Beijing. Part 1 "Ice Love" was shot from October to December 2021 in Changchun.
