Synopsis and Plot Summary
A tragic accident that occurred before the college entrance examination changes the lives of two teenagers who learn to protect each other as they struggle through youth.
Chen Nian (Zhou Dongyu) who is an introvert has excellent grades at school. As a senior high student, her only focus is to get into a good university. The accidental fall of a classmate unravels a series of untold stories. Chen Nian is pulled into it little by little and during her loneliest moment, a teenager named Xiao Bei (Jackson Yee) breaks into her world...

- It was shot in Chongqing from July 2018 to September 2018.
- It was initially set for a June 27, 2019 release but postponed 3 days before the premiere date due to a decision between production and distributors over the marketability and completion of the film.
- Zhou Dongyu and Jackson Yee both shaved their heads for their roles. Zhou Dongyu even wore a wig to keep her new look a secret.
- It was a box office success grossing a total of US$230 million in China.
- It brought home a number of awards and nominations. Zhou Dongyu who won Best Actress in 2016 for the movie Soul Mate won many Best Actress awards once again for Better Days.
- It is Jackson Yee's first starring role in a movie. Jackson Yee earned multiple Best Actor nominations for his role in Better Days. He brought home the Best New Performer award at the 39th Hong Kong Film Awards.
