Synopsis and Plot Summary

"Ni Shui Han" is a legendary sword that has been passed down for generations. Qi Shaoshang obtains the sword by chance and hidden inside it is the secret to a treasonous plot. Meanwhile, Gu Xichao befriends Qi Shaoshang with ulterior motives because he is a man who will do anything for his ambition to be worthy of the woman that he loves.

When Qi Shaoshang (Julian Cheung), the master of Lianyunzhai, stood up against injustices during his travels, he encounters a man who entrusts him with the "Ni Shui Han Sword." Gu Xichao (Wallace Chung) falls in love at first sight with Fu Wanqing (Song Jia) while performing on the streets. She is the daughter of a powerful official. On their wedding night, Gu Xichao's father-in-law orders him to get rid of Qi Shaoshang and seize his sword. In order to prove his abilities and show that he is capable of giving his wife a better life, Gu Xichao is determined to complete the task at all costs.

Gu Xichao and Qi Shaoshang felt like old friends upon their first meeting. Gu Xichao becomes a close confidant to Qi Shaoshang who also recommends him to take a post in Lianyunzhai. Sadly, the two men were always meant to be on opposite sides. Gu Xichao executes his plan without mercy and wipes out everyone in Lianyunzhai with only Qi Shaoshang and a few others managing to escape. Qi Shaoshang meets Gu Xichao's wife Fu Wanqing while on the run. Given all the lives that have been lost, Qi Shaoshang vows to take Gu Xichao's life to avenge his brothers.
