Synopsis and Plot Summary
While Tang Chen's career was on a steady rise, he was "betrayed" by his girlfriend and forced to declare bankruptcy. However, he learns to get back on his feet and wholly devotes himself to his second venture in the public relations industry.
In setting up a new company, Tang Chen (Jin Dong) finds his first associate in his long-time friend Sha Zhou (Tian Yu). Sha Zhou is an excellent writer, but he's had an unsuccessful career and remains to be a small-time reporter. To fulfill the division of labor required for the team, Tang Chen and Sha Zhou work together to recruit their other associates who will come to form the newly-established Gray Whale PR firm.
Tang Chen uses his industry acumen to actively bring business in. He leads his team in overcoming many obstacles such as helping pig feed king Xie Liqiang strengthen his public image, pushing Mao Mao's song to widespread popularity and closing a public relations contract with a big firm. During a confrontation with a competitor, Tang Chen discovers a secret involving his ex-girlfriend Shuo Bing (Song Jia) and Ye Shouru. Carrying mixed feelings, Tang Chen becomes embroiled in a love and hate relationship with Shuo Bing.
