Synopsis and Plot Summary
A story that takes place on the night before the Spring Festival in Chang An, a death row convict joins hands with a young scholar to save everyone in 24 hours.
Zhang Xiao Jing (Lei Jiayin) is a military man during the Tang Dynasty. After he retired from the frontlines, he worked security and often crossed paths with bad people. Zhang Xiao Jing commits a severe infraction that lands him in jail. At this time, the Jing An Bureau discovers that a suspicious entity has infiltrated the city. Due to Zhang Xiao Jing's expertise and past connections, he is given the opportunity to be absolved of his crimes should he succeed in solving the case. Zhang Xiao Jing learns about a sinister plan to wreak havoc during the Lantern Festival which is only a few hours away. Together with Li Bi (Jackson Yee), a young prodigy and the real brains behind the bureau, they join hands to find the real mastermind behind the conspiracy.
Fun Facts
- It is produced by Youku in collaboration with other companies.
- Filming took place in Xiang Shan and Xiang Yang.
- Jackson Yi learned horseback riding for the sake of the role.
- Lei Jia Yin had a lot of action scenes, so he would always spend a few hours after work to train.
- In November 2018, a poster with the premiere date of Dec. 31 was released. It was subsequently removed and replaced with a new poster sans the date.
- Episode count was changed from 60 to 26 in the records filed with NRTA (formerly SARFT).
- On July, 2, 2019, it was announced that the drama will also be available on Rakuten Viki, Amazon, and Youtube.
- Many were surprised when The Longest Day in Chang'An suddenly premiered on June 27 and that episodes were already available on Youku. Without any announcement, promotions only began after it started airing.
