Synopsis and Plot Summary

A Communist spy serving as an officer of the Japanese puppet regime joins hands with Russian and Korean spies to execute an assassination plot.

In the year 1941, Nazi Germany declares war against the Soviet Union. Given that Manchukuo's loyalties lie with Cheng Tian, the Russians are caught in a situation where they face threats on all sides. Their intelligence agency devises a long-term plan in secret. Communist spy Tang Fei (Liu Yunlong) receives a mission to infiltrate the enemy by pretending to be one of their own. At the Security Bureau, he crosses paths with Cai Meng (Han Chae Young), a woman determined to fight against the Japanese regime. They gain each other's trust as they try to outsmart the enemy within their own territory.

Fun Facts

Filming took place in Yancheng and Hengdian World Studios.
Filming lasted more than two months beginning on March 11, 2015 and ending on May 30, 2015.
It was filmed using 4k camera.
Liu Yunlong plays a spy who stutters. He said that the stuttering wasn't originally in the script, but he felt the character lacked something until it was added in.
It is part of the dramas that were affected by the Hallyu Ban, an unofficial ban that was in effect in China to restrict all forms of Hallyu aka Korean Wave due to the political disagreement between China and Korea over THAAD. On October 31, 2017, there were reports that both sides were making a move to mend diplomatic ties and news that the virtual ban has been lifted came days later. (Source: Sohu)
Korean actress Han Chae-Young was initially attached to the project as the leading lady but Chinese actress Su Qing took on the same role when the series finally earned a release in 2020.
