Synopsis and Plot Summary

It relives the 1970's through the story of a military art troupe.

Liu Feng (Huang Xuan) is modest and kind, the type of person who is always at the service of others and generally well-liked by everyone. He Xiao Ping (Miao Miao) who came from a farming village is often discriminated against and treated as an outsider. Fun Facts

Youth was already confirmed to premiere end of September as part of the movie lineup during the National Day holidays. However, it was suddenly removed from the lineup a few days before the premiere date which is why the many of the cast and Director Feng Xiao Gang shed tears during the presscon.
Filming took place in Hainan and Yunnan.
Filming lasted around 3 months beginning January 5, 2017 to April 5, 2017. Preparation began as early as August 2016 as the cast including Huang Xuan went through various kinds of training from military to dance.
It is directed by Feng Xiao Gang with a screenplay written by Yan Ge Ling who also wrote the source novel.
Feng Xiao Gang who headlined the movie Mr. Six refers to Youth as Mr. Six's youth. Perhaps he meant it metaphorically though it can also be taken literally since it is after all inspired by people and events from the director's younger days.
Feng Xiao Gang was very strict in choosing the leading lady. He auditioned around 1000 new actresses and requested that they come with no makeup and plain clothing.
