Hu Ge was also admitted to the Central Academy of Drama to study as a director although he eventually chose acting.
He studied acting at the Shanghai Theatre Academy.
He officially entered showbiz through the 2004 TV series Dandelion which he shot when he was still a second year college student.
He rose to fame very early in his career as the main protagonist of the 2005 fantasy series Chinese Paladin.
He got into a severe car accident while on the freeway on August 29, 2006 wherein his assistant Zhang Mian lost her life. He had more than 100 stitches on his neck, his right eye and had to undergo skin graft.
