Synopsis and Plot Summary

Educated youth Niu Shurong and Zhao Xinmei are two women with different personalities who fall in love with the same man. It marks the start to a struggle for love that spans ages.

The two families of Niu and Zhao are good neighbors who look out for each other. Although they are not rich, they are contented. As youths sent up to the mountains for re-education became prevalent, Niu Shurong (Nikita Mao) and Zhao Xinmei (Ada Liu) expressed their determination to go. In Heshantun, they fall in love with the handsome exemplary youth Qi Wei (Zhou Yiwei). Through different competitions, the relationship between the three grew, yet Niu Shurong and Zhao Xinmei grew apart due to outside factors.

Niu Shutong eventually marries Qi Wei while Zhao Xinmei marries Niu Shurong's older brother Niu Chengguo (Ren Donglin). After starting work at the factory, Niu Shurong and Zhao Xinmei both work hard for the betterment of everyone and become heroes in the eyes of the other workers, yet they haven't managed to truly make peace with each other.
