Synopsis and Plot Summary

A mystery romance that follows a world-renowned criminal psychologist and his assistant as they crack each and every case no matter how bizarre and difficult.

Bo Jinyan (Wallace Huo) is a boss and mentor to Jian Yao (Sandra Ma), his interpreter and faithful assistant. Given his high IQ and low EQ, his peculiarity often leads to awkward and comical situations. Jinyan is the opposite to the sweet, warm and caring Jian Yao yet the two have a flourishing partnership as they investigate the most difficult cases with the help of friends Li Xunran (Wang Kai) and Fu Ziyu (Yin Zheng). To save Jian Yao, Jinyan must go against Xie Han (Zhang Luyi), a cold-blooded criminal mastermind from his past and confront the byproduct of his inner demons.

Fun Facts

Filming took place in Qingdao and New York.
Filming began on May 22, 2015.
Screenwriter Hai Yan also wrote Nirvana in Fire.
It is Wallace Huo's second time working with the same production team after Battle of Changsha.
Director Zhang Kaizhou decided that Wallace Huo was the undisputed choice for the role even during the planning stages. Hou Hongliang reveals that Wallace Huo initially declined the role. Only after Wallace read the script did he decide to sign on to the project and he had to push back all of his schedules to do so.
Since the character is supposed to be thin, Wallace Huo had to keep losing weight throughout filming.
Zhang Luyi thought up many little gestures for his character.
Sandra Ma revealed that Wallace Huo loves watching cooking shows and often ate the snacks she brought.
Ding Mo who wrote the original novel created her own style of novels in the mystery romance genre.
Compared to the past where airing TV dramas took precedence, Love Me If You Dare is the first drama produced by a streaming site that successfully released on a major TV station.
It was released simultaneously on Dragon TV and Sohu and hit 1.1 billion views online by its series finale.
Wang Kai, who plays a supporting character landed the main role in When A Snail Falls In Love, which is also based on a Ding Mo novel.
