Synopsis and Plot Summary

Underneath the spunky humor of Let's Get Married is a touching story about four couples in different stages of love.

Ye Wen Wen (Gao Yuanyuan) is the unmarried owner of a bridal shop who continues to wait for the day that Mr. Right will walk her down the altar. She is constantly bothered by her ex, which is why she cannot seem to see the man (Jiang Wu) faithfully standing by her side.

Wen Yi (Haden Kuo) is about to get married to her boyfriend of seven years when a mysterious man named Li Xiang (Li Chen) comes out of nowhere to pursue her and she finds herself caught between two lovers.

Xiao Lei's (Ivy Chen) boyfriend is a pilot named Ling Xiao (Ryan Zheng) who seemingly has no intention to marry. Their strained relationship teeters on the brink of collapse. Tian Hai Xin (Liu Tao) is a successful career woman and her sudden pregnancy puts her in a tight spot. Cao Da Peng (Wang Zijian) has always been patient with his wife but he has decided to divorce her for the sake of the kids.



Fun Facts

  • Filming took place in Beijing.
  • Gao Yuanyuan was the first to be casted because she represented Let's Get Married. The rest of the actors were chosen according to the needs of the story.
  • After the success of the drama version of Let's Get Married in 2013, director Liu Jiang made a decision in early 2014 to make a movie without repeating the story from the drama.
  • A team of 20 people were put together and 4 love stories were selected from a total of 30. The screenplay was written by different writers and the final draft was completed by Liu Jiang to connect the stories together.
  • Liu Tao wasn't supposed to be in the movie. She came in as a replacement for her friend Qin Hailu who had to back out because of pregnancy.
  • During the proposal scene, Gao Yuanyuan cried from beginning to end. She also cried all night at another evening so that by the time it was the last scene, she had no tears left.
  • Li Chen ad libbed how he talked to Haden Kuo's character when they first meet. He chatted her up using Japanese and Thai because it was his idea of how a tour guide would act.
  • Li Chen learned the violin for the role. Haden Kuo's violin performance in the drama took her one month of practice.
  • Despite being the director, Liu Jiang was acknowledged as the funny man on the set as he created a relaxing environment for everyone.
  • There was a scene when Li Chen rushed in to help catch a mouse in Haden Kuo's room. In reality, Haden Kuo likes little mice so she had to pretend to be afraid.
